Everyone brings a bottle and they get passed around. When someone on SB proposed a bourbon gathering in LA, I decided to host it and make it Gazebo West, a similar event at my place for the LA area bourbon fans."

]]>I was really not feeling it. I had moved up to NorCal just a couple weeks ago and I knew I wanted to go to Point Lobos for some pics as the ones I saw on the web were very nice. It seemed like the perfect day--a Fri so it wouldn't be so crowded, clouds in the sky, and still Springish (heard Summer would be very crowded) and so there might be a colorful sunset. But there are just those days you don't feel like packing all the gear, doing a 70mi drive, and then stand around for hours taking pictures in solitude.

Well, anyway, did some stuff around the house for most of the day and then I started feeling a bit better and said aw hell, let's do it. Headed down, and man there was so much traffic! Google traffic lied!--1.5hr in traffic my ass! I was worried I was going to miss the 7:42 PM sunset (after I get there I'd still have to scope out a good place, and I've never been there before.) Well, ended up getting there sometime after 5pm and was looking pretty gloomy, like it was going to rain! No sun in the sky. So much for a sunset, ha ha.

Point Lobos was beautiful, and I could tell under the right conditions there would be sublime pictures. But for this lonely and cold night, here are my takeaways...

]]>Our 2nd day playing in the snow during The Great Road Trip of 2014. Quincy told me a few times it was his dream to come here, so here we were. Also, Anthony decided to try his snowboarding skillz this day (he wanted a warm-up day before we raced for $$$ <--- he thought he could beat me after a year of practice vs. my 3 or so years). So, did a few intermediate runs for Anthony... and over and over I heard f this, mf that, n! even!!! Without trying to use English form, Anthony repeatedly yelled out every bad word he knew. He poured his soul into his cries. His mouth drummed the mountain sides and beyond. It was beautiful.

Snowmass was massive and we traveled the mountains in search of all the blue runs we could do. Dangers in the form of black symbols and dark shadows were to be avoided. I saw smiles creep onto his face once again.

]]>Our 3rd day playing in the snow during The Great Road Trip of 2014. The great evil was defeated just yesterday. His soul depleted. Joy... no, happiness,... no, even just hope--all jailed. Not being able to bear the loss, Anthony decided to ski this day. Apparently this was a good decision as Aspen Ski Resort in Aspen was the fastest and on average the steepest resort I've ever tried. No beginner runs here. It all starts with a gondola ride to the top taking nearly 20-30min! Then we skied the run all the way down. I have never been so fast!

He kept wanting to go on mogul after mogul, some marked double black, some marked dangerous, etc., so fine, I humored him. Was doing pretty well for the most part keeping up, except for the end of the day where we headed down a tunnel of moguls with vertical drops... when I pummeled the earth like a jackhammer. Tomorrow will be my revenge...
